Welcome Back Gardeners!

Aside

Greetings!  Welcome to Hendersonville Homegrown and the Village Garden.

Spring has sprung, and the Village Garden on Ashe Street is revving up for a long and productive growing season.  Members of the Garden have planted several beds already, and four new beds will be built this coming week.

Membership Dues: Membership costs $10.00 per household per year, and scholarships and payment arrangements are available.  No one who wants to join this garden will be turned away due to cost.

Scheduling: Community gardening hours are from 4:30 – 6:30 pm on Fridays, starting the first week in May.  The Boys and Girls Clubs Gardeners will be working on their projects during the afternoons on weekdays, once or twice per week (time T.B.A.).

Produce: Work in garden is divided into hourly shares, rather than individual beds.  This means that, on Fridays, members divide up the work needed for maintenance of all 8 beds,  do as much as is needed, and track their own hours.  At the end of each Friday session (during the harvest season) members tally their hours and take home ½ bushel of produce for every 4 hours worked over the course of the previous week.

Community: During the weeks before our crops are producing, the end of the community gardening period will be celebrated with a potluck supper and music for any and all who wish to attend.

If you are interested in joining the garden, please sign up through the comments box on this website or send an email to us at hendersonvillehomegrown@gmail.com.

We will see you there!

Warm regards,

Elizabeth Harding and Tarah Singh
